I am from a small, very white town in Wisconsin, USA. Initially I wanted to get a business leader, investment banker or something like that. While in college, I learned about white privilege and systemic racism. That combined with some friends and experiences really woke me up. I found Teach For America as a way to fight systemic racism right away. I fell in love with my fourth graders. In 2007, I moved to the Rosebud Indian reservation. There, I was hooked. I believe Native communities hold so much promise, and have demonstrated unfathomable reslience in everything through which they have endured. I accepted the position as executive director here in 2011. Currently, I live on the Rosebud Indian reservation in South Dakota, USA.
